The Face of US Diplomacy

Readers will know that I have been rather critical of Condoleezza Rice and her various diplomatic travails. Except for one brief, putatively shining moment, she has generally appeared to be singularly unsuited to the task as America's face forward in the international community, tone deaf in a world of subtle sounds. Well, check out that face; scowling, argumentative and just plain angry. It perfectly bespeaks the Bush administration's view of and stance within the larger world. I'm not entirely sure where or when this picutre was taken (by all inference, it may have been from the Congressional hearing today) but what I find interesting is that this was the photograph chosen by the BBC to pictorlialize Rice's position on the India nuclear argument. Yikes.

A picture is worth a thousand words, as they say.
