Our liberal media

Well, that didn't take long. Mere days after releasing a short yet blistering critique of George Bush, CBS fired General Batiste from his position at the network as news consultant. Keith Olbermann picks up the slack other "liberal" media outlets refuse to touch.

Unfortunately, we learn daily that freedom has a price. And that means free speech too.

Yes, some have been quite effective at using the Nixon-Agnew strategy of branding the media as from the left. And thus the media are now firmly of the moderate right. So much so that most progressive voices are muted in the current media system.

But I think the swing is right of what you say. This man is not "from the left." Batiste is a long-time Republican and military commander, who stated clearly that George Bush has "imperiled the nation." As Paul Craig Roberts has shown, even once conservative rags like The Wall Street Journal are now firmly partisan beyond any adherence to "conservatism."

I wonder how you fight a "war on terror" the right way? Is that like fighting a war on war? Because I'm all for that.
