Angels in America
81% of Americans believe in angels, with 97% of evangelical Christians thinking these are real creatures. That's so sweet.
An overwhelming majority, almost regardless of backgrounds and religious convictions, think angels are real, according to an AP-AOL News poll exploring attitudes about Santa Claus, angels and more. We're doomed.
Belief in angels, however people define them, is highest — almost universal — among white evangelical Christians, 97 percent of whom trust in their existence, the poll indicates. But even among people with no religious affiliation, well more than half said angels are for real.
Protestants, women, Southerners, Midwesterners and Republicans were the most likely to believe in angels, although strong majorities in other groups also shared that faith. Belief in angels declined slightly with advanced education, from 87 percent of those with high school education or less to 73 percent of those with college degrees. Overall, 81 percent believed in angels.

Now if all those believing in angels would only follow the better angels of their nature.
Merry Xmas Bhc!
And yet, Loch Ness, Santa, The Easter Bunny, The Tooth Fairy, Chupacabra, Big Foot/Sasquatch, aliens, etc are all completely made-up and the belief by an adult that any of those individuals are very real indeed is a quick one-way ticket to the nuthouse, complete with a societally accepted mental health disorder label and shunning by friends, neighbors, co-workers, etc.
But angels? Oh no, they're real. Very real. And people see, feel, listen and talk to them all the time and yet, somehow, that's sane. That's faith. That's belief in an almighty, omniscient, omnipotent being that is responsible for everything there ever was, is, or will be.
Yeah. Happy Festivus to you, too, btw.
Happy Christmas, folks!
Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Lucifer an angel at one time?
..and Merry Christmas!
Indeed, he was. On this subject, a highly recommended read, To Reign in Hell, by Stephen Brust.
This made me laugh. We are in trouble!
